CIS Leadership Searches Announcement | James Coulson is joining Northlands School, Buenos Aries, as Headmaster
Posted 27/02/2017 16:00

CIS and The Board of Governors at the Northlands School, Buenos Aries are delighted to announce that Mr James Coulson will be joining Northlands as their new Headmaster. Northlands, which has recently been awarded CIS International Certification, selected CIS Leadership Search Services, represented by Joe Cornacchio, and supported by the CIS Leadership Search team, to lead the search for a new Headmaster.

Northlands, a coeducational, bilingual IB World School was established in 1920 and today serves 2022 students across two campuses. James will take over from Nick Reeves who will move to Columbia where he will lead a project to establish a new school.

Board Chair, Pablo Resore, commented, “After an intensive international search through the excellent services of CIS (Council of International Schools), which shortlisted highly experienced candidates, Mr JAMES COULSON has honoured us by accepting to cover this post as from June 2017. Throughout the selection process Mr. Coulson has demonstrated all the necessary qualifications and expertise to lead NORTHLANDS global education project.

Prior to his current post of Headmaster at St. John’s School in Concepción, Chile, James spent several years as a teacher in Greece, Czech Republic, Spain and England. He also served as Head of Media Studies, International Coordinator and English Teacher at North Walsham High School in Norfolk UK, and worked as a Member of the UK Government Fast Track Teaching Scheme (for recognized potential School Directors). James’s wife Laura Price and three young children will join him in Argentina.

Upon his selection James remarked, “After a lengthy and thorough selection process, I have been offered the Headship of the wonderful Northlands School in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Northlands is a unique institution with almost a century of academic success behind it and a holistic approach to education which I share wholeheartedly. I felt immediately impressed at how it approaches one of the fundamental challenges for all schools, all institutions, perhaps even for all of us as individuals: how do we open ourselves to change while simultaneously not losing who we are? How do we embrace the vast opportunities on offer now, more than at any other time in human history, while also always keeping in mind that nucleus of things that we are not prepared to change, our institutional DNA? The Northlands Way has impressed me from the very moment I first opened the school's webpage and this immensely positive impression has only been deepened by numerous subsequent conversations with teachers, Directors, parents, administrative staff and students.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank CIS and particularly Joe Cornacchio for their support, transparency and guidance during this process. Together with my wife and three children, I am now looking forward to a fascinating next chapter at Northlands.
