2011 CIS Winter Recruitment Events Registration

CIS warmly extends an invitation to teachers who are seeking appointments in international schools to register with the CIS Teacher Placement Service in order to attend the CIS Winter Recruitment Events by completing the online registration http://members.cois.org/IM/teacher_application.aspx  and establishing a teacher placement file.

Candidates who currently hold a placement file with CIS should contact Becky Hazlett, CIS Teacher Candidate Update Coordinator, BeckyHazlett@cois.org to indicate you wish to attend a CIS annual recruitment fair which is by invitation only. As CIS is a non-profit international school membership organization, candidates are not charged a fee to register or attend any CIS recruitment fair. The January London Recruitment Centre is the first scheduled fair in Europe that international schools attend to appoint staff for September 2011.

Information regarding the three winter recruitment events:

The CIS recruitment facility held during the ECIS Nice conference is for those teachers who are currently teaching in international schools and are registered delegates for the ECIS November Nice Conference. Schools participating in the recruitment facility will be given on-line access to the CIS placement files of those participating ECIS teacher delegates attending the conference. Upon arrival at the ECIS Nice conference, school recruiters will contact, meet and interview the candidates with whom prearranged interviews have been made.  If you have registered to attend the ECIS November Nice Conference and wish to participate in this CIS recruitment facility, please email Becky Hazlett, BeckyHazlett@cois.org

The CIS January London Recruitment Centre, the first scheduled fair in London,  attracts experienced teachers from schools throughout the world.
High standards are maintained by requiring confidential references from only educational supervisors and writing directly to current heads for reference requests. The annual LRC continues to uphold a 29 year tradition of providing great candidates in a well organized and congenial atmosphere – at no cost to the candidate!  CIS is an educational service organization, not commercial; therefore, it does not charge its registered teachers any placement or registration fees.  The 2010 January LRC was very popular with recruiters and candidates producing a high number of placements.   We recommend you register and establish a placement file/update your existing placement file prior to the end of November to ensure an invitation

The 6th annual CIS-ISS winter recruitment fair will be held, in Chicago.  The combined nature of the CIS-ISS winter recruitment fair provides an excellent opportunity for teachers seeking new appointments to be interviewed by recruiters from both organizations at this very successful annual event.  This is a particularly good fair for CIS registered candidates in the USA.  Again, a very high number of placements were obtained at the 2010 CIS Philadelphia CIS Recruitment Fair, so we urge you to attend.  Again, with CIS, there are no recruitment fair registration or placement fees.

Leadership SelectionInternational Teachers Exchange and Secondment Program (ITESP)

Teachers in CIS schools are offered the opportunity of a 1-Year Teacher Exchange through "Cumburri" International Education Consultants, based in Australia. Exchanges are available to Canada as well as to New South Wales and Victoria in Australia with the potential of other States by special request/negotiation. Teachers exchange their homes and jobs but retain their home salaries and transfer funds as needed. Schools MUST have the right to obtain visas for the incoming exchangee. A small fee is charged to the CIS school to "support" the program and also to the exchange applicant as a "commitment" to the program. Exchanges commence in January or July by negotiation with the schools involved to fit in with Northern and Southern Hemisphere term breaks.
Secondment is the loan of a teacher from a cooperating school or department of education for a fixed period with the promise of return to their former position after successful completion of the term of work. In these cases they are treated as any other school employee in terms of relocation, salary and benefits.
For more information about these services contact Mavis Wilcox at cumburri@bigpond.com .
