The 7th Edition of the Guide and its Standards progressively comes into use as each school receives its next Preliminary or Preparatory Visit after September 2003.

The 7th Edition was developed in a collaborative process involving CIS and the New England Association of Schools and Colleges. This document may not be copied or used without specific written agreement from CIS or NEASC.  

Version 7.01 was in use from September 2003 to August 2006. Version 7.02, which incorporates slightly different formatting and improved instructions, was introduced from September 2006. Given that there are no substantive differences between versions 7.01 and 7.02, schools which are working with version 7.01 should continue to do so.

The 6th Edition and its Standards are in use in schools which received their last Preliminary or Preparatory Visit before September 2003. These schools will continue to use the 6th Edition until the end of their current accreditation cycle (i.e. until their next Preparatory Visit).
