Jeongmin EOM currently serves as Chief of the Research & Development Team at the Asia-Pacific Centre of Education for International Understanding (APCEIU), a UNESCO Category 2 Centre to promote global citizenship education for a Culture of Peace. Jeongmin studied political science (B.A.) at Yonsei University, Korea, and sociology of education/international education (M.Ed.) at the University of Alberta, Canada. She also completed her Ph.D. candidacy in the Anthropology Department at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Her areas of specialization by training include anthropology of education, anthropology of development, and global education.
While working at APCEIU as a programme specialist, she coordinated a number of educational projects, including Asia-Pacific Training Workshops on EIU, Situational Analysis of EIU, and Asia-Pacific Leadership Academy for School Principals. She was also the project coordinator and a contributing author of a book on EIU teaching modules entitled, Learning to Live Together: Teachers Resource Book on Education for International Understanding (2003). She has also participated in a number of research projects, including Situational Analysis of ASEAN Countries for International Cooperation in Education Development (2010) and Policy and Strategy of Korea’s Educational Official Development Assistance (ODA) in Africa through UNESCO (2010).
Within her role at APCEIU, she has also been involved in a number of international Global Citizenship Education (GCED) projects, including international teacher training workshops, curriculum development, Learning Metrics Taskforce on GCED, the development of GCED: Topics and Learning Objectives (2015) as a member of the Experts Advisory Group (EAG), and her initiative for the publication of its Korean adaptation. Most recently, she has been involved in the development of the UNESCO Clearinghouse on GCED hosted by APCEIU (www.gcedclearinghouse.org).
