CIS UNIVERSITY COUNSELLOR TOUR 2016

Dates: 4 - 10 July 2016
Location:
Washington D.C., Maryland, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, United States

By Ryan Jordan, 2016 CIS University Counsellor Tour Leader

This past July, 25 counsellors from 19 countries went to visit universities from Washington D.C. to New Jersey, where the IACAC conference was being held. Aptly named the ‘Liberty Tour’, we traveled from D.C. to Baltimore to Philadelphia and ending in New Jersey, which started on the 4th of July.

The goal of this year’s tour was to visit as many universities and colleges prior to the IACAC conference at Rutgers University, while trying to see some of the sights along the way. The institutions visited were George Washington University, DC; American University, DC; Georgetown University, DC; University of Maryland, MD; Marymount University, VA; Maryland Institute College of Art, MD; Johns Hopkins University, MD; Goucher College, MD; Swarthmore College, PA; Haverford College, PA; Bryn Mawr College, PA; University of Pennsylvania, PA; Rutgers University, NJ.

Thank you to all of the universities that participated; each visit was a different and fantastic way to learn about the institutions. From housing to meals, every detail was absolutely appreciated.

Also, a big thank you to all of the participants. While there were early mornings and late nights, the group of counselors enjoyed a great series of tours that helped us learn more about each of the institutions. What an adventure!

For 2017, Marisabel Figueroa, University Guidance Counsellor at the American School of Tegucigalpa and member of the CIS Latin America and Guidance Committees, will be leading the CIS University Counsellor Tour. ‘The Heartland Tour’ (Ohio & Indiana) will begin July 14, at the end of the IACAC and end July 20 in Chicago, IL.
