CALL FOR SESSION PROPOSALS

SUBMISSION DEADLINE: 9 March 2018

CIS is seeking high quality session proposals relevant to international school leaders and teachers focused on the development of intercultural learning.

The selection committee is seeking proposals from the following groups:

  • University faculty, researchers, and doctoral students
  • School leaders or teachers conducting action research
  • School leaders or teachers engaged in innovative and proven practice as evidenced through sound assessment measures

TOPICS AND EXAMPLES

Session proposals should consider topics related to the development of intercultural learning within the following categories:

Leading schools to implement a quality international education
  • Effective leadership that delivers an embedded approach to global education
  • Unique characteristics of international school pedagogy and curriculum
  • Harnessing local opportunities to tackle global issues
  • Project based learning for global citizenship
  • Student engagement through co-curricular international learning
  • Intercultural learning in challenging environments
Intercultural learning in the digital age
  • Classroom technologies that promote global citizenship
  • Artificial intelligence and intercultural learning
  • Social implications and opportunities for educators in a globally connected learning environment
  • An argument for analogue: technologies that hinder intercultural learning
  • Social media strategies that encourage global citizenship
  • Unintended outcomes (or) Digital dangers: the risks and realities of virtual engagement with unfamiliar communities

SELECTION CRITERIA

  • Degree of alignment with strand topic
  • Clearly defined learning objectives or key takeaways
  • Relevance to international school leaders and teachers
  • Strength of research base, assessment method, or innovative practice
  • Evidence that a session will result in practical takeaways
  • Years of experience on topic

SESSION FORMAT

  • Sessions are scheduled in 1 hour blocks
  • Presentations should be interactive
  • Presenters are encouraged to use a variety of learning techniques including, but not limited to, small group breakout discussions, partner sharing, individual reflection and large group Q & A.
  • Projectors will be available
