Christopher O’Shaughnessy is an internationally recognized speaker, consultant, and author who helps international schools foster global citizenship, intercultural understanding, and student well-being. Blending humor, storytelling, and deep insight into cross-cultural life, Chris draws on over two decades of experience in more than 100 countries.

Specializing in Third Culture Kids (TCKs) and globally mobile communities, Chris supports students, educators, and parents in navigating the joys and challenges of international life. His adaptable sessions spark reflection, build practical skills, and leave audiences laughing, inspired, and more connected.
Schools benefit from tailored programs that strengthen student identity and resilience, deepen intercultural fluency, and support staff in creating inclusive, globally minded environments. Whether through student assemblies, parent talks, staff workshops, or long-term consulting, Chris helps schools turn the complexities of mobility into opportunities for growth.

Chris’s acclaimed book Arrivals, Departures and the Adventures In-Between is widely used by schools to promote resilience, identity, and cross-cultural empathy. He effectively engages all age groups—from students to parents and faculty—with content that is insightful, relevant, and warm.

Born in England to American parents and raised internationally, Chris is both a product and advocate of the global school experience. His work empowers schools to see mobile students not just as adaptable individuals but as future global leaders.

Chris has worked with schools across Europe, Asia, Africa, North America, and the Middle East, and has presented for organizations including FIGT (Families in Global Transition), SPAN (Safe Passage Across Networks), CIS (Council of International Schools), NAFSA (Association of International Educators), KHDA (Dubai’s Knowledge & Human Development Authority), the US DoD (Department of Defense), CAF (Canadian Armed Forces), and FSYF (Foreign Service Youth Foundation). He also partners with groups like Interaction International (where he serves on the board) and the European Commission’s Intercultural Approach Program.

Whether leading professional development or delivering a presentation that stays with the audience, Chris is a trusted voice and creative partner for international schools seeking to build more connected, culturally fluent communities.
