Child Protection Foundation Workshop

Join us to receive expert guidance and knowledge on a wide range of topics, including policy development, managing allegations, addressing harmful sexual behaviour in schools, affluent neglect, and the vital role of the curriculum in safeguarding students.
You’ll connect with fellow CIS members with similar roles and responsibilities as you share challenges, collaborate, and explore strategies.
The workshop is packed with vital and well-established workshop content plus newly developed and timely material.
You can expect to:
- Learn from exceptional speakers with deep knowledge, expertise, and direct experience
- Leave with a shared understanding of child protection in international schools—challenges, expectations, and opportunities
- Feel more aware of your school’s responsibilities regarding child protection—what you need to work on to make your school a safer place
- Be well-equipped with a clear idea of the actions to take in the coming weeks, months, and years to develop and strengthen child protection and safeguarding practices in your school
- Develop a broad understanding of topics relating to child protection, including,
- safer recruitment
- how sex offenders operate
- child-on-child abuse
- communicating in a crisis
- developing school-wide child protection policies
- identifying and receiving disclosures of abuse
- cross-cultural and contextual considerations relating to the abuse
Choose from two strands:
Both strands align with CIS International Accreditation standards, particularly Domain E.
- Strand A: Managing child abuse in an international school—Recruitment, policies, and response
- Strand B: Preventing and identifying child abuse—Curriculum, culture, and receiving disclosures
Who is this workshop for?
Heads of schools, principals, social-emotional counsellors, university guidance counsellors, safeguarding leads and child protection officers, CIS accreditation team evaluators, school board members.
This event will take place at the Frankfurt International School in a beautiful location on the edge of the Taunus Forest with excellent transport links.
