Child Protection Deep Dive Workshop: Managing Allegations Against an Adult

Date: 16–17 January 2025
Location: International School of Beijing, China

In-depth training to focus on managing allegations of child abuse against an adult in an international school context

In this professional learning experience, you’ll access training and resources tailored to international school communities. Return to your school to facilitate community-wide learning and growth.

You’ll participate in an unfolding case study facilitated by experts in managing allegations of child abuse and concerns about adults in the international school context.

Our exceptional speakers will guide you with their deep knowledge and direct experience to develop practical skills and strategies for effectively identifying and deterring abuse. This begins with learning how to identify and appropriately respond to low-level concerns, a crucial aspect of early intervention in child protection. It also includes insights into how sex offenders operate within educational settings, enhancing your ability to implement preventative measures.

This CIS professional learning experience will advance your knowledge and practice of:

  • how sex offenders operate and develop skills and strategies for deterring and preventing abuse
  • strategies and processes for appropriately responding to allegations of child abuse by educators and other adults, including carrying out an inquiry
  • how to identify and respond to low-level concerns
  • considerations for communicating in a crisis and about a historical allegation

You will also:

  • foster connections with colleagues at fellow CIS schools with similar roles and responsibilities to facilitate collaboration and create support networks
  • develop skills that empower you to participate fully as a member of your school’s safeguarding and response teams

You’ll return to school feeling:

  • aware of the possibility you will need to lead an inquiry

  • well-equipped for how to do so

  • confident to take action to help your school prepare for such an event

  • ready to support the development of a safeguarding culture in your school and lead your community in this area

Why should your school invest in this training?

Managing an allegation is high stakes for a school and allegations can be made anytime, so your school needs to be prepared. Plus!
