CIS, led by Pauline O’Brien, Director of Career & Recruitment Services, has been working closely with Yoyogi International School in Tokyo, to support the school in their search to secure the excellent leadership qualities and competencies needed to drive the school’s future ambitions. Pauline O’Brien subsequently visited the school in February to ascertain the school’s recruitment needs and review the current school leadership structure. Following this thorough audit, CIS set about the search for the next Head and Deputy Head of School for Yoyogi International School.
CIS thoroughly screened, vetted and interviewed all suitable candidates for the positions and following this rigorous selection process two finalists were identified - Chris Toomer and Craig McLaren. The search committee subsequently selected Chris Toomer to be the next Head of School at Yoyogi International School, supported by Craig McLaren as Deputy Head of School. Their combined experience and skills bring Yoyogi International School the professionalism, educational excellence and business acumen that it needs to take the school into the next stage of its development.
On their appointments, Yuko Muir, Founding Director of Yoyogi International School said, “I believe that Mr. Toomer and Mr. McLaren’s deep knowledge and experience will continue to make Yoyogi International School a spectacular place for our students, families and faculty.”

Chris Toomer’s extensive career includes various faculty and administrative positions leading international schools as well as having a business background. Chris has been in the field of education for 17 years serving international school communities as a Head of School, Board of Directors and Principal.
Following his appointment as Head of School, Chris Toomer commented:

Craig McLaren also has an extensive career in the field of international education, including a Head of school, division head and IB Diploma Programme Coordinator.
On his appointment as Deputy Head of School, Craig McLaren said:
