CIS was chosen by KIS International School, Bangkok, to find their next Head of School. The competitive search process is now complete and we are pleased to announce the appointment of Paul Johnson as the new Head of School at KIS International School, commencing in August 2019.
Kumaree Komarakul Na Nagara, KIS Executive Board Chair & School Director commented that
‘Paul definitely fits the KIS profile and culture, and I’m sure he will easily blend into the KIS community. The Executive Board and the Head Search Committee were really impressed with his qualities.’
On his appointment, Paul commented that
“from the start of the search process until the end, CIS and Pauline were there every step of the way to ensure I understood the process of the search and to help me in my interaction with the school. They paved the way for what has emerged as the beginning of a wonderful and positive relationship between the Board at KIS and me.”
KIS International School retained CIS Leadership Searches, represented by Pauline O’Brien, Director of Career & Recruitment Services, to lead the search for a new Head of School. A process of careful evaluation ensued, matching the skills, experiences and philosophies of the candidates against the needs of the school. Contending candidates were personally video-interviewed by CIS to ensure that each candidate put forward to KIS was a potential match. Short-listed candidates were video-interviewed by the KIS Search Committee, Chaired by Ray Davis, KIS Educational Consultant and Executive Board Member. Finalists were then invited to Bangkok to meet with constituent groups of the community including Students, Staff, Parents, Board members, Administration and Owners, all of whom contributed towards helping the school make the right choice for their next Head of School.
“Sally Holloway, has been our first and only Head of School since inception twenty years ago, and she has definitely done a remarkable job taking KIS to where we are today. She has been commended as a very strong and effective leader by every CIS accreditation visiting team. Therefore recruiting a new head was definitely not the Board’s forte,” said Kumaree. “We naturally turned to CIS and Pauline’s consultancy proved to be extremely professional and helpful. From the first videoconference to start the process; her visit to Bangkok to assess the needs of the school and stakeholder groups; shortlisting the candidates for video-interviewing; organising the finalists school visit and interviewing with the Board; through to the inking of the contract; Pauline was always there for us throughout the way, no matter where she was in the world. KIS is proud and happy to have selected the right choice; both CIS for recruitment of our new Head, and for the bright future we look ahead to moving forward towards, under the leadership of Paul Johnson”.
Paul Johnson is currently the Deputy Director and High School Principal at the premier American Embassy School in New Delhi, India, where he has been for the last 5 years. Paul began his educational career in the United States and for the last 22 years has served as a Teacher, Middle School Principal, High School Principal, and Deputy Director in mid- to large sized international schools in Morocco, Bangladesh, China, Vietnam, and India. He has held senior administrative roles in three pre-K – 12 schools in Asia over the last 10 years.
