CIS launches Taskforce on Emerging Technology

The Council of International Schools (CIS) has convened a Taskforce on Emerging Technology to help shape responsible, ethical, and future‑focused use of emerging technologies across international education.

As technologies such as artificial intelligence continue to develop rapidly, educational institutions are navigating complex questions about opportunities, risks, and responsibilities. This taskforce brings together a diverse, global group of experts to provide strategic guidance on how educational institutions can integrate emerging technologies in ways that align with core educational values, safeguard trust, and support human development.

Purpose of the taskforce

The taskforce has been established to support institutions by developing clear, high‑level principles for the ethical use of emerging technologies. These principles will inform practical guidance for schools and will be aligned with CIS’s mission, vision, and values.

The focus is on ensuring that technology adoption:

  • supports socially responsible leadership
  • promotes equity, integrity, and transparency
  • safeguards data privacy and well-being
  • and contributes positively to teaching, learning, and school operations

More information about the taskforce participants as well as updates and outputs from the taskforce will be shared throughout 2026.
