Professional Development and Networking
Whether you already have years of experience in international admissions and recruitment or you are new to the field, you can learn from peers and make new connections at our numerous events throughout the year. We have robust participation of both universities and schools, which maximizes opportunity for networking from both sides of the desk.
Events update: Going virtual! We are focusing on what we can plan and do with a high degree of certainty in 2020, considering our collective health and safety and ongoing uncertainties for global travel and gatherings. We won’t be hosting any in-person events for the rest of the year, join us instead for virtual events that ensure our community’s essential conversations, learning opportunities, and networking continue. If you have been unable to travel to attend an event in the past, we look forward to welcoming you in this new format.
Are you a member? Head to the CIS Community portal for a series of member-only webinars to support you on topics including regional admissions updates from universities worldwide, how to support student transition to higher education in the current climate, different aspects of mental health and well-being, and more.
The CIS Global Forum on International Admission & Guidance is a conference of more than 900 professionals from around the world who gather annually to develop professional connections and discuss crucial industry topics. Take this opportunity to expand your perspective of student recruitment!
Tackling Racism Workshop Series: Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in our Schools and Universities
Progress is dependent on strong foundational concepts that are grounded in being self-reflective, deliberate, and evaluative. Taking time to develop and strengthen our foundations—individually and institutionally—is essential, no matter how progressive or rudimentary we are in our thinking and actions.
We can help you do the groundwork via three new foundation workshops. They focus on implicit biases, intercultural competencies, and structures and systems. They are each 2.5 hours long, virtual, and interactive. ‘Story’ will play an integral part in your workshop experience as you learn and share your own experiences and expertise, and hear those from peers, expert practitioners, and guest speakers. You will explore ways to evaluate your practices and take positive action.
