You are part of a unique global community of universities and international schools. By joining the Forum, you have the opportunity to share your knowledge, reveal effective practices, debate and discuss challenges and opportunities in our community and more.

We invite you to submit a session proposal that shares your knowledge and experience.

Our four themes (and questions to stimulate your thinking)

This year’s themes have emerged from recent conversations with many of you as practitioners in this field and leaders of CIS member schools and universities and will create a programme to help you in your work supporting students.

We’ve included some questions to stimulate your thinking, and we’re excited to hear your ideas:

Rising from the pandemic: Changing practices for the future

Finding the right balance between in-person and online recruitment—does anyone have the answer?
As we emerge from the pandemic, are there pre-pandemic practices we want to bring back/leave behind or new practices we want to continue?
How can the process of university admissions and guidance become more inclusive, equitable and anti-racist?
How do we support ourselves and build our own resilience and energy through difficult times?

International student transitions to higher education

How can schools and universities help students prepare for their transition to adulthood and independent living and the social and cultural transitions at university?
What is the role of admissions representatives in supporting international student transitions?
How can our communities work with parents to support these transitions and help students navigate their journey into higher education abroad?

Regional and curriculum updates

Assessment and admissions: What are we doing differently now?

What are the key developments we need to know about as universities change how they assess and make offers to students?
What’s the impact of these changes?
How can counsellors best advise students, given this changing landscape?
What types of degree programmes have emerged to accommodate students during the pandemic, and what impact are they having on students and universities?

Looking for topic ideas or for a co-presenter?

Visit the CIS Community portal > Events > Forum information page. There, you’ll find instructions and a link to find a co-presenter for your session, support a colleague by being a panellist, and find topic ideas.

Session formats

Two possible formats of delivery suit different presentation styles:

Interactive panel discussion or workshop (60 mins)—Maximum 4 presenters. 60 minutes. Interactive audience participation using the interactive tools offered by our virtual technology. Ample time should be provided for dialogue, Q&A, or other forms of interactivity.
Rapid Round presentation (10 mins)—Maximum 1 presenter. 10 minutes. Maximum 15 slides. Presenter highlights a topic in a succinct manner to stimulate the curiosity of the audience. Rapid round presentations will run consecutively during the session block they have been assigned.
