Willemijn Nieuwenhuys is the Director of Higher Education Services. Since joining CIS as Assistant Director in November 2014, Willemijn has played an integral part in the strategic direction of many member programmes while working collaboratively with volunteers and partner organizations around the world, to ensure the provision of high quality membership and support services to facilitate international admission and guidance at the university undergraduate level.
Originally from The Netherlands, Willemijn spent more than a decade abroad in Belgium and South Asia. Prior to joining CIS she spent six years as the Director of Student Recruitment & External Relations at Vesalius College, an English-language undergraduate college in Brussels. Her responsibilities included the development of student recruitment, marketing and communication strategies. In that capacity she participated in numerous CIS fairs and presented at the CIS Forum on a variety of topics, involving admission requirements, recruiting in Europe, and country specific education systems in the region. Willemijn has a wide range of work and travel experience, including the United Nations in Nepal, where she managed relations with local communities to improve human rights in the country. During that time, she worked closely with volunteers from all different parts of society. Willemijn’s commitment to service, both personally and professionally, impressed everyone at CIS.
Willemijn holds a master’s degree in Social Psychology from Leiden University.
Christy Clabots serves as the Higher Education Services Coordinator.
Christy holds a BS in Geography from the University of Oklahoma (United States) and an MA in Migration and Ethnic Studies from the University of Amsterdam (Netherlands).
After the completion of her Master’s degree, Christy worked at two different government agencies within the U.S. Department of Commerce in Washington, D.C.: the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and the U.S. Census Bureau. In 2007, Christy relocated back to the Netherlands. Prior to joining CIS in 2011, Christy most recently worked at the European Headquarters of the Seiko Epson Corporation as an Environmental Specialist.
Roxana Contreras joined CIS as a Higher Education Services Coordinator in March 2018. In her role, she supports the Higher Education Services team to ensure the provision of high-quality membership and support services which facilitate international admission and guidance at the university undergraduate level.
After graduating with a B.A. in International Business in Veracruz, Mexico and prior to joining CIS, Roxana held progressive positions in various international companies where cultural awareness and diversity played a strong role, which lead her to develop a passion for what CIS stands for.
Originally from Mexico, Roxana has lived in the USA, Venezuela and Mexico before moving to The Hague in The Netherlands where she currently resides.
Daphne de Leeuw
Daphne de Leeuw joined CIS as an Events Coordinator in January 2019.
Daphne was born in the Netherlands and has enjoyed her upbringing as a third-culture kid in Yugoslavia, South Africa, Namibia and Vietnam. She returned to the Netherlands with her family in 2008 to finish her last year of high school at the International School of the Hague and continued her studies at Hotelschool The Hague. After obtaining her Bachelor in Hotelschool Management in 2014, she backpacked through South East Asia, in which she was able to realize one of her foremost wishes. After living abroad up until the age of 17, she now lives in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, and has made this her new home.
She started her career within the events industry at a large travel management company (Carlson Wagonlit Travel), where she organized and coordinated numerous conferences, meetings and seminars for a large pharmaceutical client. Before joining CIS, Daphne worked as a Project Manager Incentives & Group Travel at ATPI and had the opportunity to organize corporate events and incentive trips worldwide. During her free time, she likes to participate in weekly bootcamp lessons at the nearby park, organize and host dinner parties for friends and family or spend her time reading novels.
Nunana Nyomi serves as Associate Director of Higher Education Services for the Council of International Schools based in Leiden, The Netherlands. In his role, Nunana works collaboratively with volunteers and partner organizations around the world, to ensure the provision of high quality membership and support services to facilitate international admission and guidance at the university undergraduate level.
After graduating with a B.A. in International Relations and French from Calvin College, Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA, Nunana began his higher education career at the institution. He held progressive positions, most recently Associate Director of International Admissions and member of Calvin College’s Enrollment Management senior leadership team. Nunana also holds a M.A. in Higher, Adult, and Lifelong Education from Michigan State University.
Nunana had a third-culture kid upbringing in the United States, Ghana, Kenya, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom. This background has given him a first-hand appreciation for international education and a passion for global citizenship.
Katryna Snow serves as Assistant Director of Higher Education Services for the Council of International Schools based in Leiden, The Netherlands. In this role, she works collaboratively with volunteers and partner organizations around the world to ensure the provision of high quality membership and support services to facilitate international admission and guidance at the university level.
Katryna received B.A. in biology from Hamilton College in Clinton, New York, USA, and taught middle school science while earning an M.Ed. in Middle School Education from Worcester State University, Massachusetts, USA. Over the next decade, Katryna held a series of admissions positions at Colgate University and the University of Vermont with progressive responsibilities and a focus on international recruitment and admissions. Katryna spent six years serving on the CIS Regional Service Committee for Europe, the Middle East and Africa and led four CIS student recruitment tours. She has recruited students and visited secondary schools in over fifty countries worldwide.
