Dr Jenny Lloyd is Assistant Professor at Durham University within the Sociology Department. She holds a PhD in human geography a Masters in research methods and a Bachelors in geography, she is also a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
As a member of the Contextual Safeguarding team she works across research projects to develop responses to peer-on-peer abuse and particularly preventing and responding to harmful sexual behaviours in schools. Through this work she regularly works with students, ensuring that their voices and experiences of safety inform research and practice in this area. She is regularly invited to advise on national policy relating to these areas.
Dr Lloyd manages the development of the Contextual Safeguarding Education Champions Network – a network of practitioners internationally – working to safeguard children and young people in schools. For the last 8 years she has developed expertise in working in international contexts, her doctoral thesis explored women’s experiences of migration within Singapore including the social, cultural and political implications of migration.
Dr Lloyd is experienced in training practitioners from a range of professions including education, law enforcement and health.
She continues to publish for academic and practice-orientated audiences. In 2020 her team published a toolkit for schools to address harmful sexual behaviour.
