Velimira was born in Bulgaria and considers herself fortunate that she was able to enroll in one of the few English language high schools in the Bulgaria at the time. She graduated Economics from the Business Faculty of the University of Sofia St. Kliment Ohridski and resided as exchange student for 6 months in Madrid.
Her professional career in Bulgaria included sales, office management, project and financial administration with diverse internationally exposed private and public entities. In 2008 she relocated together with her family to the Netherlands, where they settled in a cozy village in the outskirts of Leiden.
Before joining the CIS finance team, Velimira worked for 8 years in the finance departments of two UN international criminal tribunals in The Hague. Her current role at CIS includes managing all aspects of accounts payable, credit card charges, processing of staff and consultant expense claims, bank and other general ledger accounts reconciliations and assisting in year-end and quarterly financial closings.
