Ed Maher joined CIS in September 2018 as Director of School Support & Evaluation Services, leading a global team of 27 School Support & Evaluation Officers and School Advisors, who guide CIS schools through the International Accreditation process. Prior to CIS, Ed led the D Y Patil International School as Head since it opened its doors in 2012, transformed from the Antwerp British School, which he also served as Head from 2008 through 2011 and where he introduced a comprehensive strategic planning programme addressing cultural change.
An Australian, Ed began his educational career at St. Augustine’s College Sydney and St. Edmund’s College Canberra as a Principal and Deputy Head. His educational studies include a Doctor of Education from the University of Bath in the UK, specialised in agency level decision making and processes, a Master’s of Arts from the University of Notre Dame in the US and a Master’s of Educational Leadership from the Australian Catholic University. Throughout his career, Ed has devoted time to public service through state government committee work and a range of community service programmes. He and his wife Caroline have three teen-aged children.
